Bukit Panjang Ring Road

Case Study: Dwellaholic – Making a Small and Dark House Feel Airy and Bright

If you love living in a space that feels airy and bright, you know how important it is to have a good interior design. Our client, an elderly couple who lived with their daughter and granddaughter, wanted to make their house at 535 Bukit Panjang Ring Road feel more spacious, light, and comfortable. They wanted to incorporate darker colors and plants and green into their space to add contrast and freshness. However, making a small and dark house feel airy and bright with these elements is not an easy task. That’s why they decided to hire Dwellaholic, an interior design firm based in Singapore with expertise in making small and dark houses feel more spacious and bright.

Hacking Walls and Glass Walls. Dwellaholic began by hacking walls and replacing them with glass walls. They used tempered glass and aluminum frames to make the glass walls strong and sleek. They also added curtains and blinds to make the glass walls more private and adjustable.

Open Kitchen with Sliding Door. Dwellaholic designed an open kitchen with a sliding door that could be closed up to the yard. They used wood and metal cabinets and countertops to make the kitchen more modern and functional. They also added lights and appliances to make the kitchen more bright and efficient.

Junior Master with Glass Wall. Dwellaholic designed a junior master with a glass wall with motorized blinds. They used wood and fabric furniture and bedding to make the junior master more cozy and comfortable. They also added lights and power points to make the junior master more convenient and accessible.

Hidden Storage. Dwellaholic created more hidden storage by using cabinets, shelves, drawers, and boxes that could store different types of items, such as clothes, books, toys, and souvenirs. They used sliding doors and push-open mechanisms to make the storage easy and discreet to access.

Darker Colors and Plants and Green. Dwellaholic added darker colors and plants and green to the space to make it more contrasted and fresh. They used black, gray, and brown colors for the walls, floors, and furniture. They also used green, yellow, and red colors for the plants, flowers, and accessories.

The result was a beautiful space that was airy and bright. The client was very happy with the outcome and loved how Dwellaholic was able to make their space feel more spacious, light, and comfortable. They now have a lovely home that they can enjoy with their family.
